Bengtson Farms loves all the fun parts of fall, but fall is not complete without a little scare! To experience THRILLS and CHILLS, wander through our SCARY and completely animated HAUNTED BARN. This Haunted Barn may be too spooky for some little ones, so children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Younger kids can enjoy a stroll through the not-scary Fun Barn, with dancing animals and whimsical scenes that will be certain to delight the whole family.
Ages: Fun Barn for all ages. Haunted Barn for older kids, under 12 must be accompanied by adult.

It started as many home displays do, with pumpkin leaf bags, corn stalks and some Halloween themed wood cut outs. Those simple beginnings have become a year-round passion to build a display which thousands of visitors come to every October. The display is classically themed in the Halloween in which we grew up. There is no blood and gore, it is spooky not scary. The animatronics run from Dusk to 9:00 PM Sundays through Thursdays and from Dusk to 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays through Halloween! Free.

Trick-or-Treat Trail
Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Rd., Buffalo Grove
October 18, 5-7pm.
You never know who you will see at our Trick-or-Treat Trail! Walk through the trail, where friendly characters will hand out candy to all children. There will be games, entertainment, and more family fun. This event is a no scare zone; and, parents must accompany children during the entire event. The event is free; and, the first 200 kids will receive goodie bags.

Haunted Forest Walk

October 25-26, Less Scary Matinee is Saturday 1-3pm. Regular hours 6:30 - 9:30pm
Hawthorne Hill Woods will be transformed into a thrill of scary scenes, complete with all sorts of creatures that slither and groan. Patrons will wind their way through the haunted forest trail which will feature scary characters and around every dark corner will lurk a new horror. The Saturday afternoon session will be more suitable for children 9 and under (parental discretion).

Experience the terrifying 1/3 mile nightmare trail at Springbrook Nature Center. Tickets available at Itasca Waterpark on event day.

Haunted Forest - Little Monsters
Diane Main Park, 200 W. 59th Street, Westmont
October 19, 3pm - 6:30pm for Little Monsters, 7-9:30pm for Sheer Terror.
Smith Woods will come alive for one very magical, mystical night! Participants will hop on a wagon ride that takes them from Diane Main Park through the terrifying woods path scenes. After that, participants will get off the wagons and walk through the wicked woods where all kind of scares await them. Don’t turn your back, as characters, ghouls and creatures will come alive before your very eyes! For our younger viewers it is recommended you attend our “Little Monster Showing” from 3:00-6:30pm. Sheer Terror is recommended for ages 10+. $8.

Ackerman Haunted Trail
Ackerman Park, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn
October 24-25, 4-9pm.
Take a walk along a haunted trail of creepy creatures, scary sounds, and bone-chilling scenes. Come anytime between 4-9 pm; the walk will take about 10 minutes. The trail will be less scary from 4-6 pm and geared toward older children from 6-9 pm. Before or after your adventure, enjoy refreshments for purchase from local vendors. All adults and children over the age of 3 walking the trail must register and pay the $5 fee.
Ages: 5 and up

Haunted House at Columbus
Columbus Park, 500 S. Central Ave., Chicago
October 26, 12-6pm
Children can come dressed in their costumes to have a fun with a pumpkin patch, skating, arts and crafts and more. Everyone will have a chance to enter the haunted house and enjoy the different scary scenes. Feel free to bring your own skates. Free.
