Bengtson's Haunted Barn is a scary, fully animated haunted attraction located inside the farm's Fall Fest. Younger children who are not ready for the Haunted Barn can visit the Fun Barn, which is designed for all ages and features a much gentler, non-spooky experience.
Ages: Fun Barn for all ages. Haunted Barn is the scarier option; children should be supervised by an adult.

Goebbert's 10-room Haunted House is designed for school-age children, but it is still intended to be scary. The Haunted House is included among the attractions offered during the South Barrington Fall Festival.

Sonny Acres Haunted Hayride and Haunted Barn

Sonny Acres offers two nighttime haunted attractions during its Fall Festival: the Circus of Horrors Haunted Hayride and the Haunted Barn. The hayride features live actors, animatronics, lighting, sound effects and other scare elements, while the Haunted Barn provides a walk-through haunted experience.
Haunted attraction hours vary by date. Friday and Saturday nights generally run 7-10pm, with select Thursday and Sunday nights running 7-9pm.
Ages: Best for older kids, teens and adults; parental discretion recommended.

Haunted Trails and Limited Date Haunted Houses

Trick-or-Treat Trail
Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Rd., Buffalo Grove
October 30, 2026, Trail 5-6:30pm; Performance 6-7pm
Walk through a family-friendly trick-or-treat trail where costumed characters hand out candy to children. The event also includes games, entertainment and additional family activities. This is a no-scare event, and parents must accompany children throughout the event. Free; goodie bags available while supplies last. For ages 12 and under

Haunted Forest Walk
Park at Fred C. Hohnke Community Center, 2600 Center Drive, Woodridge
October 23 and 24, Less Scary Matinee is Saturday 1-3pm. Regular hours 6:30 - 9:30pm
Hawthorne Hill Woods will be transformed into a thrill of seven scary scenes, complete with all sorts of creatures that slither and groan. Patrons will wind their way through the haunted forest trail which will feature scary characters and around every dark corner will lurk a new horror. The Saturday afternoon session will be more suitable for children 9 and under (parental discretion).

Haunted Trail - Itasca
Springbrook Nature Center, 130 Forest Ave., Itasca
October 16-17, 7-10pm. Family Hour Saturday 4-5:30pm.
Step onto the haunted trail as your guide leads you through a 1/3-mile loop transformed into your worst nightmare. Around every corner, terrifying surprises await. Will you make it through, or will you leave trembling? Family Hour offers a less intense experience, while Active Scaring is recommended for those ready for the full fright. Weather permitting. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Itasca Recreation Center or at the event. $10 per person, $5 repeat trips.

Haunted Forest - Little Monsters
Diane Main Park, 200 W. 59th Street, Westmont
October 17, 3pm - 6:30pm for Little Monsters, 7-9:30pm for Sheer Terror.
Smith Woods will come alive for one very magical, mystical night! Participants will hop on a wagon ride that takes them from Diane Main Park through the wooded path. Following the wagon ride, participants will get off the wagons and walk through the wicked woods where all kinds of scares await them. Don’t turn your back, as characters, ghouls, and creatures will come alive before your very eyes!For our younger views it is recommended you attend our "Little Monsters" showing from 3:00-6:30P. Sheer Terror is recommended for ages 10+. $9.

Ackerman Haunted Trail
Ackerman Park, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn
October 22-23, 4-9pm.
Take a walk along a haunted trail of creepy creatures, scary sounds, and bone-chilling scenes. Come anytime between 4-9 pm; the walk will take about 10 minutes. The trail will be less scary from 4-6 pm and geared toward older children from 6-9 pm. Before or after your adventure, enjoy refreshments for purchase from local vendors. All adults and children over the age of 3 walking the trail must register and pay the $7 fee. For ages 3 and up.

Halloween Haunted Hallway at Franklin
Franklin Park, 4320 W. 15th St., Chicago
October 28, 4-5:30pm.
Let's have a spooky fun time! Swing by and enjoy our free Haunted Hallway! Treats and fun for all ages. Children costumes welcomed. Activities will be held inside the Fieldhouse.
