Music House School of Performing Arts is dedicated to inspiring artistry in young minds. We believe that cultivating creativity is essential in the development of the brain and exposes students to their potential in a new and fun way.
Our theater program provides quality instruction led by engaging teaching artists who are all active in Chicago's bustling theater community. We have a place for all students no matter their skill level or newness to the stage. Everyone who auditions for a Music House production receives a role and every role is equally important! This Fall we are so excited to bring two amazing opportunities to young performers. Junie B. Jones (ages 4-9) and High School Musical Jr. (ages 9-16). Students will learn and experience what is required to put on a show from learning and rehearsing lines, practicing vocals, and busting their coolest dance moves. Performances will be a combination of live and recorded and will be presented as Movie Premieres! Your movie career begins today! No experience required! Try it, it’s fun! Auditions are in groups of 6 with a variety of experience in a safe, fun and welcoming atmosphere.
In our Comedy Writing class, students will have the opportunity to develop and harness their comedic skills and put them to the page.. Students will experiment with different approaches to idea development, writing for dialogue and monologue, making comedy skits, stand up comedy, and more. This class won't be your typical seated writing class, but will include improv and performance as we write through experimentation and then refine through writing. In acting, students will have the opportunity to build a strong stage presence. Whether you've been a recurring theater student or are just starting out, this class will teach you new skills and strengthen acting skills you already have. The course will focus on voice, movement, improvisation, character development, Meisner technique, monologue development, and scene work.
Music House also proudly offers Musical Theater Dance, Dance Composition and Choreography, Private Voice Lessons, as well as a variety of other Visual, Language and Performing Arts Classes.
