Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago offers more than a dozen interactive and hands-on exhibits and programs. Hands On House features a child-sized house where children can rearrange walls, tile the roof and plant a soft-sculpture garden with the help of a system of buckets and pulleys to move rocks and supplies. Kids can shop or play cashier in the fully stocked Dominick’s supermarket complete with shopping carts, Care for stuffed animals in a pet vet, and build and test toy cars on racetracks. Other exhibits let youngsters play with water, make music, crawl through a sensory, and explore a sculpture trail. The Museum also features an art studio where kids can create their own masterpieces, with themes and media that change bi-weekly.
LOVE Kohl's - we've been a member since before my firstborn was a year old. There are so many cool places - a Dominick's pretend grocery store, a Potbelly sandwich shop is a favorite, day care, car wash the kids can go thru, waterworks, music section, and a "special" area that varies on the great-ness. Cosi Cafe is pretty good but I do miss the pretzel shop that used to be there. Follow them on Facebook and they often times post when they have field-trip free days and/or expect a lighter crowd. It's walking distance to the Glen as well - shopping, dining, etc.
