What did Earth look like after the dinosaurs?
Opening on August 29, The Field Museum's newest exhibit will answer this question! After the Age of Dinosaurs takes you on an amazing journey into a time often skipped over—the 15 million year period right after the dinosaurs disappeared. It's a world you've never seen before, and it's perfect for a family adventure!
What to Expect
Imagine a world that's tropical and lush, filled with flowering plants and some seriously strange animals. This exhibit brings that forgotten time to life. You'll get to: see colossal creatures like the Titanoboa, the largest snake that ever lived! At over 40 feet long, it's bigger than a bus. You'll also encounter six-foot-tall penguins! It’s all about immersive learning and hands-on fun. Exhibition developer Marie Georg highlights their efforts to "build in moments of interactivity and exploration." Your family can touch real fossils, hear the sounds of the asteroid impact, and even compare your size to creatures that roamed the Earth millions of years ago. You'll also discover new favorites and enjoy amazing artwork from Chicago artist Jay Ryan, whose vibrant pop art-style illustrations bring this "forgotten, vibrant world to life" in a way that's visually engaging and sure to spark curiosity about science and art.
After the Age of Dinosaurs is a temporary, ticketed exhibit, check the Field Museum's website closer to the date for ticket information and to book your visit in advance.
