The countdown to Halloween is on! We've rounded up the best Halloween fun for the days leading up to the big day. Get on the costumes and go have fun!



Daily through October 31
Scarecrow Trail
Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle
Gaze upon the nature-themed scarecrow trail created by local Scout troops while walking along a scenic one-mile paved path around Meadow Lake. Vote for your favorite on either your mobile device or inside the Visitor Center. All ages. 7am - sunset. Free with Arboretum admission. Learn more.

Cosley Zoo Pumpkin Fest
Cosley Zoo, 1356 Gary Ave., Wheaton
Come see the animals and take in the thousands of pumpkins scattered on the zoo’s lawn. Apples, gourds, pumpkins, cider, cornstalks, and various sizes of straw bales are available to purchase. Children’s rides are also available for an additional fee. All ages. 9am - 5pm. Included with regular admission. Learn more.

Annual Pumpkin Party
Gallagher Way, 3635 N. Clark St., Chicago
Old Town School of Folk Music will lead a few folksy and Halloween dance and sing-a-longs, and kiddos can create a paper ghost or their very own Halloween slime with Kid Create Studio. Visit a range of candy stations, and enjoy take-home junior pumpkins, balloon artists, a magician and lawn games galore. Plus a lawn showing of Hotel Transylvania at 3pm. All ages. 1-4:30pm. FREE. Get your scare on with Snapology’s Monster Mania! Use LEGO® bricks to create your own monster fighter, build a haunted town and have a scary good time during this fun program. Drop the kiddos off between 5:30 and 6pm with the spooky awesome activities starting soon after 6:00pm. Pizza will be served and Halloween treats will be provided. Forge Fear - The Tale of Talcott’s Stone
The Forge: Lemont Quarries, 1001 Main Street, Lemont
A sacred stone belonging to Quarry Owner Thaddeus Talcott yielding paranormal powers has been unearthed; it’s unearthing has unleashed evil spirits & creatures upon the Lemont Quarries; A Forge guide will work with each tour group along the haunted trails to solve the riddles and clues to find the stone and return it to its resting place banishing the spirits back to where they came from. This event is a magical evening parade that celebrates Halloween as the "artist’s holiday." Past participants include world-renowned institutions like the Art Institute of Chicago, celebrated Chicago organizations like Lookingglass Theatre Company, important programs like After School Matters and aspiring artists in every field.
