Day 1
Morning Location: Lake County Discovery Museum
Morning Description: Start the morning off at the newly renovated Lake County Discovery Museum. Exhibits like the Vortex Roller Coaster Theater and the Lake County Mall of History are sure to both educate and entertain children and adults.
Lunch Location: Quig's Orchard
Lunch Description: Enjoy an old-fashioned hayride, apple picking, and lunch at Quig’s Orchard, Restaurant, & Country Store.
Afternoon Location: Gurnee Mills
Afternoon Description: Gurnee Mills, home to Rainforest Café, Bass Pro Shops, and over 220 other outlet stores. Don’t miss Rink Side Sports, an entertainment center with an ice rink, laser tag, full-size restaurant, and over 180 state-of-the-art interactive electronic games.
Evening Location: Ravinia Festival or Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre
Evening Description: Take in dinner and a Broadway-style musical at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theatre or plan a picnic on the 36-acre lawn at Ravinia Music Festival, the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Day 2
Morning Location: Six Flags Great America
Morning Description: Spend the entire day at Six Flags Great America, the Midwest’s premier thrill park. Over 100 rides, shows, and attractions await students at Great America, including Vertical Velocity and Déjà Vu, two brand new roller coasters opening in Spring 2001.
Day 3
Morning Location: Naval Training Center Great Lakes Tour
Morning Description: Tour the grounds of Great Lakes Naval Training Center, the only Naval Recruit Training Center in the country. Your family can enjoy an in-depth look at this historic facility.
Lunch Location: Illinois Beach State Park
Lunch Description: Enjoy a boxed picnic lunch at Illinois Beach State Park, a lakefront park catering to a wide variety of interests, including camping, fishing, swimming, and hiking. The park encompasses the only remaining beach ridge shoreline left in the state.
Afternoon Location: The Power House
Afternoon Description: Before leaving for home, make one last stop at The Power House, a hands-on energy museum created by Commonwealth Edison. Explore over fifty interactive exhibits to help better understand today’s important energy issues.
