Millions of parade-goers will kick off Thanksgiving Day amidst sky-high balloons, dazzling equestrian units, the nation’s top marching bands, talented dance troupes and the best in varied cultural entertainment. This year’s McDonald’s® Thanksgiving Parade will take place LIVE on State Street in downtown Chicago on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (CST). For those not on the street for the cherished annual parade, the festivities will be broadcast live on WGN 9 Chicago and WGN America.
Holland Taylor, star of stage, screen and television, will serve as Grand Marshal in this year’s McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade. Throughout her extraordinary career, Taylor has played a range of characters as varied as a Harvard law professor in “Legally Blonde,” a sultry judge in “The Practice” (Supporting Actress Emmy® for Drama) and the mother of Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer in “Two and a Half Men.” Taylor can currently be seen on stage in Chicago in the pre-Broadway engagement of ANN, a new play written and performed by Taylor in which she portrays the hilarious and inspiring Governor of the Texas, Ann Richards. The strictly limited engagement runs through Dec. 4 at the Bank of America Theatre. Expected to top over 100 Parade units, this year’s lineup includes a wide range of spectacular group performances. The high-energy Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® present Fully Charged and the always popular Million Dollar Quartet are just two of the many amazing groups this year.
